A lot of women (and men) find chocolates mouth-watering. Studies have shown that eating food that are sweet or have high fat releases serotonin, a hormone that normalizes our intestinal functions. Any spare serotonin is then employed to balance our appetites, moods, and angers. The consequent enhanced tempers and the hyperactiveness may then be the rationale behind other people’s obsession with chocolates.
Having an disproportionate craving for chocolates may not be that terrible, researchers say. It’s been found that your body is just responding to the flavor, nutritive contents, chemical stuff found in chocolates that’s why you’ve been cheerful and buoyant. Good thing you don’t have to to travel miles to get your “chocofix.”
Gather these utensils and ingredients: double boiler, mixing bowl, candy molds/baking sheets, rubber spatula, and white/dark chocolates.
Melt the chocolate in the double boiler and make sure it’s stirred so it won’t get burnt. As soon as all of the chocolate is melted, pour the molten liquid onto the baking sheet/candy molds to dry. You can try to dip fruits in the chocolate while it’s hot and liquid for a fruit-filled treat. As soon as you finished shaping your
chocolates, you can set it in the freezer for a while before serving.
One thing though: if you’ve skipped tempering your chocolates, you can be sure your chocolate will not be as shiny or as blemish-free as the branded varieties. The process of tempering will diffuse the crystals in cocoa butter, the heart of chocolate, and so won’t appear as blotches on your candy. The challenge in tempering chocolates is that you’ll have to keep the chocolate in a specific temperature at all times.
There’s something that expert chocolatiers are aware of that you’re not: chocolate tempering machines make the process of tempering as effortless as pushing two buttons. The wonderful thing about letting tempering machines automate the process for you is that you get to have superior quality chocolates without the bother and possibly a marketable product to boot!
